Playa del carmen soon?

Cozumel has a few small sites of Mayan ruins. It also offers lots of activities like scuba diving, snorkeling, parasailing, etc. I can tell you from experience that the diving is excellent. The parasailing was fun too. If you want to see some really impressive Mayan ruins, you might want to consider a tour of Tulum, about 30 to 40 miles south of Playa del Carmen.

If you didn’t last time, visit Xcaret & Xel-Ha for snorkelling and so much more. Click the link below to see a list of all the attractions.
As for archaeological sites, I prefer Coba over Tulum

Going on the ferry to Cozumel is a great way to spend the day… most things to do on the Island revolve around either snorkel or diving, there is a great park with lockers, towel rental, fresh water showers and great restaurants and bars and is actually a state park… there is more details below… YOU DO NOT need to be part of a tour (there are loads of people on the ferry boat wanting to sell you an “excursion”)… don’t buy from them… just get off in Cozumel, walk past all the people trying to sell you a “tour” and hop in a cab… they are immediatly on the left of the pier… should cost about 12$ us to get to the park…

Chankanaab is the premier Eco-Archaeological Park on Cozumel Island. Located just 9 minutes by taxi from downtown and the cruise piers, it is a place like no other on Cozumel to spend the day. Entrance to the park is $16.00 per adult and $8.00 for kids under 12,

You can just walk right over to the beach and relax and enjoy the rest of your day! This combination makes for a great cruise shore excursion, but also a fun day for hotel guests as well. Inside Chankanaab, you can see museums, snorkel from the beach, relax in hammocks, or enjoy tiki drinks from the bars.
